We are all aware of the importance and prevention of tooth decay for our children, but what about foot problems? Your feet are certainly as important as your teeth. It is
just as important to take children into the podiatrist for a regular checkup as it is to see the dentist for preventative medicine. So many adult foot problems could be
treated easier, and in some cases eliminated all together, if detected earlier.
I wish I had a dime for every patient who has told me that their mother or father has the same problem. Heredity plays an important role in our foot problems. If you are a
parent with foot problems you have a special need to take your child in for preventative check-ups. Hopefully you can save them from the suffering that you are experiencing.
It is an accepted fact that some foot and leg problems will disappear with age. It is also true that many of the problems we find in children's feet actually are not lessened
with age. Even with those conditions that will disappear with age, quite often it is necessary to protect the feet from secondary complications until the primary problem
resolves itself.
If you are concerned about a problem you think your child might have, see your Podiatrist. A check-up every six months for your child's feet every six months is as important
as his or her dental checks.
