My son and I love mountain climbing; however, keeping shoestrings to stay tight was a real problem and frustrating. When climbing you occasionally encounter
scree (loose rock debris). When it gets into your boots it can be quite painful especially when it starts cutting into your feet. It's so wonderful to go climbing now
confident that our boots won't come untied or loose. I think they're a safety feature too because when your shoestrings come un-tied and you are up on the mountain. If you
fall you're going to take a deadly fall.
